چکیده
Due to the growing aging population of world, and as a result increasing need for dental implants prostheses, use titanium its alloys implant materials has spread rapidly. Although are considered best metallic biomedical applications, innovative technologies is necessary due sensitivity medical applications eliminate any potentially harmful reactions, enhancing implant-to-bone integration preventing infection. In this regard, implant’s surface substrate reaction crucial importance, it accurately addressed in review paper. For constructing paper, an internet search was performed on web science with these keywords: modification techniques, implant, functionalization, etc. Numerous recent papers about were selected reviewed, except section forthcoming modern implants, which extended research performed. This paper aimed briefly introduce characteristics numerous treatment techniques. Specific emphasis given micro/nano-structured topographies, biocompatibility, osteogenesis, bactericidal effects. Additionally, gradient, multi-scale, hierarchical surfaces multifunctional properties discussed. Finally, special attention paid strategies such four-dimensional printing, metamaterials, metasurfaces. including traditional novel strategies, will pave way toward designing next generation more efficient implants.

New Developments of Ti-Based Alloys for Biomedical Applications
Ti-based alloys are finding ever-increasing applications in biomaterials due to their excellent mechanical, physical and biological performance. Nowdays, low modulus β-type Ti-based alloys are still being developed. Meanwhile, porous Ti-based alloys are being developed as an alternative orthopedic implant material, as they can provide good biological fixation through bone tissue ingrowth into t...
متن کاملA new look at biomedical Ti-based shape memory alloys.
Shape memory alloys (SMAs) are materials that exhibit a distinct thermomechanical coupling, one that gives rise to a wide variety of applications across a broad range of fields. One of the most successful roles is in the construction of novel medical implants. Unfortunately, concerns have been raised about the biocompatibility of the most popular SMA, nitinol (NiTi), due to the known toxic, all...
متن کاملSurface modification for titanium implants by hydroxyapatite nanocomposite
Background: Titanium (Ti) implants are commonly coated with hydroxyapatite (HA). However, HA has some disadvantages such as brittleness, low tensile strength and fracture toughness. It is desirable to combine the excellent mechanical properties of ZrO2 and the chemical inertness of Al2O3 with respect to the purpose of this project which was coating Ti implants with HA-ZrO2-Al2O3 to modify the s...
متن کاملSurface elastic properties of Ti alloys modified for medical implants: a force spectroscopy study.
We report here the first nanoscale surface elasticity measurements on surface-modified titanium alloys using the force spectroscopy mode in scanning force microscopy. Samples of three vanadium-free titanium alloys, Ti-7Nb-6Al, Ti-13Nb-13Zr and Ti-15Zr-4Nb, were investigated. Surface modification of the three alloys was produced by thermal oxidation in air at 750 degrees C for different times, w...
متن کاملMicrostructure and mechanical behavior of superelastic Ti-24Nb-0.5O and Ti-24Nb-0.5N biomedical alloys.
In this study, the microstructure and the mechanical properties of two new biocompatible superelastic alloys, Ti-24Nb-0.5O and Ti-24Nb-0.5N (at.%), were investigated. Special attention was focused on the role of O and N addition on α(″) formation, supereleastic recovery and mechanical strength by comparison with the Ti-24Nb and Ti-26Nb (at.%) alloy compositions taken as references. Microstructu...
